Philadelphia Eagles vs Cincinnati Bengals Result: Game is Tie

The Philadelphia Eagles were lucky to tie the game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Donovan McNabb is not in his top playing form, as McNabb was intercepted thrice, with a few pass nearly picked off in the overtime. Brian Westbrook wasn't in his element, managing only 60 yards.

With Mcnabb offense not in tiptop shape, the eagles compensated using their good blitzing defense.

The Bengals isn't in their best either, as Shayne Graham of Bengals missed a field goal with the clock winding down in the overtime. Shayen fell to the ground as the ball passed him by.

Inspite of all the plays by both teams, the game ended with a tie. The Eagles and the Bengals played final score is 13-13 tie. The last time a tie occured in the National Football Leagues was 6 years ago, in 2002, in a game played Falcons and Steelers.

Eagles vs Panthers: Eagles Win Preseason 24-13

In the rain, the Eagles mounted a fourth-quarter comeback to beat the Panthers 24-13.

McNabb led the offense to 10 points in two series in the preseason opener at Pittsburgh last Friday.

Kolb was 14-for-27 for 155 yards, one TD and one interception.

All-Pro cornerback Asante Samuel, who got a $58 million, six-year contract from the Eagles in free agency, saw his first action after missing most of camp with a hamstring injury. He broke up a pass to Muhammad the first time Delhomme looked his way.

Eagles rookie DeSean Jackson had a 27-yard punt return into Carolina territory in the second quarter. Jackson fumbled after a hard hit from Dante Wesley, but Matt Schobel recovered for the Eagles at the Panthers 40. The offense stalled and David Akers missed a 45-yarder.

Lito Sheppard gave the offense another chance by intercepting a pass late in the second quarter, but McNabb threw three straight incomplete passes from Carolina's 45. Two of the passes were dropped.

The Panthers were missing cornerbacks Ken Lucas (nose) and Chris Gamble (hamstring) and strong safety Chris Harris (groin). Wide receiver Steve Smith (concussion) also didn't play.

Left tackle Tra Thomas (back) and defensive end Chris Clemons (calf) were the notable absences for the Eagles.

Philadelphia Eagles lost pre-season opener

eagles game

A sore groin didn't slow Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers' first-string offense. Good thing, too, because the Steelers now face uncertainty at the backup quarterback position.

That's because Charlie Batch left the game midway through the second quarter with a broken right collarbone in the Steelers' 16-10 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in the first preseason game for both teams Friday night.

Roethlisberger completed both passes he threw, a pair of 19-yarders, the second to Santonio Holmes for the game's first score to cap a brisk, eight-play, 80-yard drive.

Donovan McNabb and the Eagles also looked crisp, and McNabb played far more than Roethlisberger. The Eagles scored a touchdown and a field goal on their first two drives, during which McNabb completed 10 of 13 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown, but were shut out the rest of the night.

The Steelers' two biggest questions coming into the game were answered. With Alan Faneca gone, offensive line protected Roethlisberger and opened large holes for Mendenhall and Willie Parker, who was coming off a broken leg that ended his 2007 season Parker did not appear to be slowed as he ran three times for 20 yards on the opening drive before he was pulled.

Each team's featured rookie also played well.

Rashard Mendenhall, the Steelers' first-round draft pick out of Illinois, ran seven times for 34 yards. That included a nifty 15-yard run that he bounced outside, keeping alive a drive that led to Jeff Reed's 20-yard field goal.

Reed added two more field goals, including a 50-yarder midway through the fourth quarter.

Eagles second-rounder DeSean Jackson made five catches for 51 yards. A handful of other balls thrown his way were either knocked down or ruled out of bounds.

The Steelers' second-round pick, Limas Sweed, took longer to get untracked, but found his rhythm with third-string quarterback Dennis Dixon, a rookie out of Oregon. All three of Sweed's catches came from Dixon, including a 9-yarder on a rollout early in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles had a chance to win the game late, when A.J. Feeley drove the team inside the 20, but misfired on a fourth-down pass with seconds left.

Steelers backup quarterback Charlie Batch left the playing field with a fractured right collarbone in the second quarter of tonight's preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Steelers won the Heinz Field game, 16-10.

There was no immediate word on how long Batch would be out but it probably would be at least a month and likely more.

Unless the Steelers pick up another quarterback in the meantime rookie Dennis Dixon likely will serve as No. 2 with rookie Mike Potts No. 3.

Batch left the field with 5:59 left in the second quarter one play after he ran six yards on a broken play. He took the next snap and handed off to Gary Russell, then walked off the field with a team doctor.

Dixon replaced Batch in the lineup.

The Steelers took the opening kickoff tonight and drove 80 yards for a touchdown to take a 7-3 lead over Eagles at the end of the first quarter.

Santonio Holmes caught a quick third-down pass near the line of scrimmage from Ben Roethlisberger and ran 19 yards down the left sideline for a touchdown to stake the Steelers to a 7-0 lead.

The Eagles came right back on their first possession to score on David Akers' 28-yard field goal late in the quarter.

Philadelphia took the lead early in the second quarter on Donovan McNabb's third-down, three-yard pass to Jason Davis. The Eagles stayed with their first team offense while the Steelers deployed their second-team defense on that drive.

Jeff Reed tied it at 10-10 with a 20-yard field goal late in the second quarter and the score remained tied through the third quarter.

Clemons hospitalized for dehydration

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Clemons was released from a hospital where he was treated for dehydration Tuesday.

Clemons was helped off the field at Lehigh University about two hours into the team's Tuesday morning practice. He was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital in an ambulance, but never lost consciousness. He returned to the training facility later Tuesday, the team said on its Web site.

Clemons signed a five-year contract with the Eagles in the offseason, and is competing for a starting spot.
